Want to head for the hills? Come and join our Mindful Mountain Hiking Program for the summer and early autumn. Here's your opportunity to do day hikes in the Kananaskis and the Rockies accompanied by ACMG Hiking Guide Debbie Maclean and Dr. Maureen Angen. The pace of these hikes is designed to enable everyone to achieve the destination and enjoy the outing while keeping personal safety paramount. Here's how to participate:
STEP 1 - Inform Yourself
Download and read all the information provided in the documents below so that you may decide whether you wish to participate in the Mindful Mountain Hiking Program. All documents are in PDF format:
STEP 2 - Complete the Par-Q and, if required, Parmed-X forms
These forms are required by Wellspring to participate in certain programs. The forms must be on file at Carma House before you can register for any hike. Forms can be downloaded from our Forms page.
STEP 3 - Register for a Specific Hike
Registration for the hikes opens three weeks before each hike. Register by calling (403) 521-5292. Please register for 1 hike per month. Please leave your name, phone number and email so a dedicated hiking volunteer can set up a communication system.
An ‘interest list’ will be started for people who are interested in being called for an extra hike, if there are cancellations. Please let us know if you are able to respond even the night before a hike.
Par Q and PARmed-X forms must be on file at Wellspring Calgary in order to be confirmed for a hike. Please read directions for registration, as well as the other documents provided in our website links.
STEP 4 - Go Hiking!
Meet the facilitators at the appointed place and time. There you will sign the ACMG waiver and leave for your amazing day in the mountains.
Important: Please inform Wellspring as soon as you know that you are not able to make a hike. This will allow someone on the waiting list to participate.
