Want to head for the hills? Come and join our Mindful Mountain Hiking Program for the summer and early autumn. Here's your opportunity to do day hikes in the Kananaskis and the Rockies accompanied by ACMG Hiking Guide Debbie Maclean and Dr. Maureen Angen. The pace of these hikes is designed to enable everyone to achieve the destination and enjoy the outing while keeping personal safety paramount. Here's how to participate:
STEP 1 - Inform Yourself
Download and read all the information provided in the packet below so that you may decide whether you wish to participate in the Mindful Mountain Hiking Program:
Download 2011 Wellspring Calgary Mountain Hiking
Information Kit (PDF) >
STEP 2 - Complete the Par-Q and, if required, Parmed-X forms
These forms are required by Wellspring to participate in certain programs. The forms must be on file at Carma House before you can register for any hike.
STEP 3 - Register for a Specific Hike
Shortly before the beginning of each hiking month, you will receive a message from Wellspring indicating that registration for that month is open. If you want to participate on a hike that month, call Wellspring and ask to be placed on the registration list for that specific hike. If the list is full, you may ask to be placed on the waiting list. You may register for a maximum of one hike per month, but you can ask to be on the waiting list for the others.
STEP 4 - Go Hiking!
Meet the facilitators at the appointed place and time. There you will sign the ACMG waiver and leave for your amazing day in the mountains.
Important: Please inform Wellspring as soon as you know that you are not able to make a hike. This will allow someone on the waiting list to participate.
