We wish to express our gratitude to our wonderful team of volunteers whose collective efforts contribute to the heartbeat of Wellspring Calgary. Their contribution of time and talent is a gift of immeasurable worth. Volunteers embody the generosity, concern and compassion that Wellspring Calgary extends to all who seek support in dealing with cancer.
Whether you have experienced your own cancer journey, have been a caregiver for someone with cancer, or if you are someone who has skills to share, Wellspring Calgary welcomes your support.
Volunteers fortify every level of our organization.
By investing your time and gifts you:
- help others
- make a positive contribution to your city
- develop new skills
- meet amazing people
We welcome your involvement. Please consider these opportunities:
Peer Support: Peer Support Volunteers have had a personal experience with cancer, as a patient or in a caregiving capacity. They speak privately and in confidence with those seeking support at Wellspring to address the needs and concerns that brought them to Wellspring. Peer Support Volunteers share information about their own experiences and, in doing so, provide comfort, hope and practical information about coping with cancer. Peer Support Volunteers also provide program information, share suggestions for programs to meet the needs expressed, and assist in registration. This service is provided by cancer survivors or caregivers (18 years or older). Volunteers are asked to participate in the training provided.
Front Desk: These volunteers contribute to our warm, welcoming atmosphere by answering the phones and greeting visitors. This position also includes assisting members with online registration and assisting with light administrative duties. Training is provided.
Satellite Host: Satellite Host Volunteers welcome members to our satellite location (south Calgary). Our Host Volunteers are vital members of our team as they are often the first person a member is in contact with at our off-site locations. They embody the generosity, concern and compassion we wish to extend at all our Wellspring Calgary locations. Volunteers create a warm and welcoming environment and provide support to facilitators and members attending programs at the Wellspring Calgary satellite location.
IT Planner: Wellspring Calgary is currently seeking an experienced IT specialist with expertise in IT planning and design. This position will look closely at what we have, accounting for what we need and want and design a plan that meets current needs and allows for growth. This position will examine our current operation, review our rationale and strategy for growth, and help us design a plan to achieve this vision.
Website Designer/Planner: Our website is a key part of our operation enabling us to connect with members (cancer survivors and their support network, supporters, volunteers and the community). We are looking for an individual with practical web design experience and expertise. This individual will design strategies that help us refresh our current website and platform, focusing on overall design, functionality and brand alignment. The project volunteer will make recommendations and move forward with website implementation.
Other Areas: Wellspring volunteers are invited to assist with a variety of other roles, including library duties, database support, gardening, fundraising, committee work, and special projects (specific to the unique skills of individual volunteers).
Special Events: Wellspring hosts signature fundraising events annually and participates in other special activities and community hosted events. The events require a wide array of volunteers in all capacities. Specific duties and scheduling vary depending on the event. Scheduling can be flexible, and volunteers can select the types of activities that interest them most. If you want to be an EVENT volunteer, please contact Jodi Currie, Events Coordinator, at 403-521-5292 ext 310 or email email@example.com. Download our event volunteer application form here.
